Sales 2.0: Making Sales better, whatever it takes

To me, Sales2.0 used to be Sales + Social Media. And I used to think Sales2.0 is all about technology.
But this assumption of mine was thwarted by an eye-opener post by Santosh.

Santosh describes Sales2.0 as "Making Sales better. Whatever it takes!!"

Also, he mentions that the next level of sales certainly encompasses (but not limited to) these:

Employees spending too much time on Social Media?

One of the major concerns of today’s organizations is the employees spending way too much time on Social Media. Some organizations try to restrict this by blocking all social websites, which only makes things worse.

Bansocialmedia

This gives employees a feeling that the company doesn’t trust employees and doesn’t care about employees’ social life. Then employees try other ways to access these sites using proxy websites, websites that let you allow other websites anonymously from them like mathtunnel.com. They use services like weBuzz.IM to use IMs. However, if it is left unrestricted some employees tend to misuse it.

What’s the best way to solve this problem? I tried to figure out why employees spend so much time on social media. The answer that I got was startling. Most of the times employees venture into social media to get the solutions that they can use for their work. Some teams like Marketing and Sales need to use it, but their focused entry into Social Media turns into a long sojourn in the vast attracting jungles of social media. They inadvertently read the tweets that come in their way, get involved in irrelevant discussions in LinkedIn.

I tried to solve this problem and figure out ways to help employees be more productive and found this wonderful article:http://blog.insideview.com/2010/05/02/investing-too-much-time-on-social-media-how-to-boost-your-roi

I have shared this link with my employees, made them informed and did not restrict them. What will you do?
